Mr. Soumya K. Acharya, the Chairman and Managing Director of eTrans Solutions Private Limited is one of the most active leaders in the field of transportation infrastructure and logistics. A Chemical Engineer from Jadavpur University, Mr. Acharya possesses deep insight and rich expertise across varied domains such as petroleum products, transportation, freight forwarding, containerization, advertising & public relations, and information technology. He has over 51 years of experience, with 37 years of experience in logistics sector alone.
He started his career with Indo-Burma Petroleum as Sales Manager and then moved on to Balmer Lawrie & Co Limited where he was given the charge to turnaround its cargo division, that was on the verge of closure. Soumya after spearheading the revival of the division remained at its helm on an all India basis for four years from 1985 – 1989.Having successfully completed the turnaround of the cargo division, Soumya joined Templeton College in Oxford to complete his Certificate in Marketing Management before taking up an assignment for the company to set up its business initiatives in United Kingdom and Europe. He was invited several times by the Templeton College in Oxford to address its students under the British Council programmes. While in London, he was responsible for setting up Balmer Lawrie U.K., an international container leasing activity and also their tea trading and packaging activity in UK.
In 1994 Soumya joined Indian Container Leasing Co. Ltd. (rechristened Transafe Services Private Ltd.), as its Managing Director and was instrumental in the Company’s turnover going up five fold and profit by ten times. ICLC gave Soumya the opportunity to study the Indian transportation industry from within and helped develop his insight of the industry. While in ICLC Soumya created an excellent relationship with Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) who became ICLC’s largest customer. It also gave Soumya a unique opportunity to understand CONCOR’s business dynamics.
Soumya, an experienced professional having an extensive and in depth knowledge and expertise in the field of surface transport, containerized cargo movement and logistic support and related systems and services, a pioneer in this field, envisaged and the project vision for implementation of the business presently being undertaken by the Company. With rich experience in transportation infrastructure and logistics, Soumya, a charter member of TIE and past President of the Kolkata chapter, has addressed several industry sessions on the subject. He has been a member of the Working Group of the Commission of India, to consider issues relating to logistics in the 11th Plan.
Mr. Viren Sinha, a Post Graduate in Business Administration from Allahabad University, started his career with Balmer Lawrie & Co. Ltd. in the year 1980 as a Management Trainee. With over three decades of varied corporate experience, Mr. Sinha effectively handled diverse roles in Sales & Marketing, Operations and Materials Management. From 1995 to 2003 he skilfully handled the Balmer Lawrie (UK) Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company where under his able leadership he turned around a loss making venture to a profit yielding concern. In 2004 he briefly left the Company to join Global Tea & Commodities Ltd. (GTCL) and thereafter Typhoo Tea Ltd. At GTCL he handled private labels and own brands managing reputed UK blue chip accounts, such as, Harrods, Marks & Spencer, Waitrose, Tesco, etc. In 2006, after re-joining Balmer Lawrie he became the General Manager – Logistics Infrastructure of the Company (2008), thereafter getting elevated to the Board as Director – Service Businesses (June 2010). He spearheaded various key business units of the Company – Logistics Infrastructure & Services, Tours & Travel and Tea. On 1st January, 2012 he took over as Chairman & Managing Director of the Company and superannuated in July 2015. Currently he is a Non-Executive Director on the Board of TKM Global Logistics Ltd. He is also a Non-Executive Director on the Board of eTrans Solutions Pvt. Ltd.
Mrs. Paramita Acharya, an M.Ed, PPA (London) is an entrepreneur and runs a very successful Montessori and kindergarten school in Salt Lake. Her strength is in her interpersonal and people management skills. She is a great motivator and has excellent communication skill.
Mr. Biplab Majumder graduated in Engineering from Jadavpur University and obtained an M.Tech degree from National Institute of Technology, Durgapur(1973).He has also been trained in Swedish School of Management, Stockholm, Sweden on General Management. He started his career with Indian oil Corporation in 1969 and before joining ABB Ltd in Feb, 1978, he had also worked for Indian Explosives Ltd , SAIL-Durgapur, Chemmetals,New Delhi.In his successful career of 42 years, he had been associated with ABB Ltd for 33 years years and finally retired as its Vice Chairman and Managing Director. He was also holding the position of President of ABB for the SAARC region and had been a member of ABB group Executive Forum – a forum of ABB top 50 international Managers. He also has been a member of CII Central Council and served in several Sub-committees.
Mr Ateesh Tankha is the Founder and CEO – ALSOWISE Content Solutions – an education enhancement and e-learning platform. A result oriented professional, Ateesh has rich experience in sales, distribution, business and product development and brand management among others. He holds an MBA from International Management Institute, New Delhi and did his BA from Presidency College, Calcutta. He started his career in eTrans and worked closely with the management team till 2001 before joining ITC Ltd. At ITC, Ateesh worked across a number of roles and functions before being seconded to the US as the National Marketing Manager. Ateesh left ITC in 2007 to join Citibank NA where he held senior positions at CitiCards between 2007 – 2015 in areas such as Business Development, Segment Management, Cross-Sell and Product Innovation. He also holds a product patent for ‘Citi Price Rewind”, a price discovery mechanism – granted by the US Patent Office in August 2015. His broad expertise also spans across domains such as Fintech, IoT and emerging commerce solutions.
Mr. Srikumar Menon was, until recently, the Managing Director, South Asia for the Linde Group, a 16 Billion Euro, multinational company headquartered in Munich, Germany. At the time of retirement he was responsible for Linde’s businesses in India (excluding LEI Baroda), Bangladesh and Sri Lanka (combined revenues more than ` 2000 crores) and was the non-executive Chairman of Ceylon Oxygen Company Ltd, Sri Lanka (a 100% Linde owned entity). He also served on the Boards of Linde Bangladesh Ltd, Bangladesh and Linde Global Support Services (P) Ltd, India. He began his career with Balmer Lawrie where he spent 16 years in the Finance function in various positions pan India. He has also worked at Balmer Lawrie – Van Leer Ltd, and Pidilite Industries. Srikumar holds a B.Com degree and is a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
Mr. Dibyendu Bose is a veteran in the steel industry with 33 years of experience across geographies. He retired as the Vice President Supply Chain at Tata Steel. He has done B.Tech (Mining) from Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad and PGDM from Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta. He has held P&L responsibilities including JVs with international companies, led large corporate functions as well as held various Board positions in group companies in the space of Mining, Logistics and shipping.
Mr Tanmoy Chakrabarty has over 41 years of experience in Business Development, Transformational services and Government Affairs. While in TCS, for almost 14 years he has led large Sales & Delivery of Integrated IT solutions and service, and holistic transformational projects in the area of e-Governance in India and abroad. Of the key projects handled are Prime Minister’s award winning & marquee Passport Sewa Project e-filing of Income Tax, to name a few. Between 2018 to 2022, as Group Govt Affairs office, Tata Sons Pvt Ltd, synergised the various Group Company initiatives at Central, State & Local Govts. To develop a “One TATA” approach to the Govt sector. Tanmoy has been a part of many Industry Associations like FICCI, and also member of IT Task Force for Indian Armed forces.
Mr. Prateep Guha is an Engineer in Metallurgy from IIT Khargpur with PG Diploma in Business Management from IIM Calcutta and MS in Management Information Systems from Northern Illinois University, Mr. Prateep Guha has more than forty years of experience in Information Technology. He has been involved in creating a global IT organisation, ICRA Techno Analytics Ltd, which specialised in Business Analytics using Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. He is currently the Chairman of Sprinriver Technology Private Limited, India, a consulting company in the area of Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Iot.
Dr. P.A.Padmanabhan is currently President Finance & Group CFO of Rane Group (a leading auto component manufacturer headquartered in Chennai, India), responsible for formulation of policies and driving synergies across multiple businesses within the group, supporting strategic initiatives of the group and leading Mergers & Acquisitions.
With a career spanning over three decades, Dr. Padmanabhan has extensive experience across different industries in handling Corporate Restructuring, Due Diligence, Mergers & Acquisitions , Accounts & Audit, Direct & Indirect Taxation, Treasury and Forex management, Project Management, SAP implementation and Investor Relations.
Dr. Padmanabhan is a Graduate in Commerce from Vivekananda College, Chennai and a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, the Institute of Cost Accountants of India and the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. Dr. Padmanabhan holds a Ph.D. in Management from the Institute of Management, Nirma University.
Dr. Padmanabhan was recognised by the Committee for Members in Industry of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India in 2015. Dr. Padmanabhan is a Member of CFO Board, a body of senior finance professionals from across the country.
